Dana and Ken Ucluelet July 16th 2016
So Dana and Ken tied the knot this passed summer on July 16th in Uclulet B.C, at the BlackRock Resort! If you have never been to Ucluelet I would HIGHLY recommend it! A quaint fishing town on the coast of Vancouver Island with spectacular hiking, surfing and beaches. It is also wildly romantic and moody. Often grey and stormy perfect for storm watching and romantic photos.
Dana and Ken picked this perfect location for their intimate family oriented wedding and it truly was wonderful. A little grey and stormy for great photos but warm enough to run around without a jacket. All the makings of a perfect day!
Getting ready for the wedding is half the fun. I always love hanging out with Brides as they prepare for their big moment. Dana had her daughter and couple close friend with her to help her transform into the beautiful bride in white you see in these photos. It was such a relaxed scene even though (as usual) things were a little behind. The resort was extremely accommodating and never rushed anyone they helped keep the energy nice and calm.
Dana picked an absolutely stunning dress it was a vision on her. I think in my heart though those Jimmy Choo wedding shoes stole the show. A girl has to treat herself on her wedding day you know. Nothing makes a girl feel better than a great pair of heels!
Once everyone was in top form and ready to go we headed out to the lower balcony where the ceremony was to take place. The groom was ready to go waiting patiently for his beautiful bride to arrive. It was all smiles here.
The ceremony space overlooked the ocean and the beautiful rocky coastline. Breath taking views are never a bad idea for a wedding you know? They had an amazing local officient who tied the ceremony into the surroundings perfectly. It was a beautifully personalized wedding including a sand ceremony where the bride, groom, family and guests all got to add a bit of their hopes and dreams in the form of sand into a keepsake they can cherish forever. At the end of the ceremony a pause for a champagne toast before the final kiss was a lovely touch!
You can see in their faces how happy they are and it makes my heart smile from ear to ear. How lucky are those who find the one person they know they will love forever?
We ran off to play and take some romantic portraits along the coast line in front of the resort. Such a gorgeous backdrop for photos. We did venture about 5 minutes down the road to the light house as well. You don't have to venture far for perfect photo locations and we didn't have the time in the day but if you did plan time into your day to explore for photo locations the possibilities are endless! Which makes me so excited that I have more weddings here in 2017!
They had a small reception in the hotel that I must say had some of the best food I have ever had. The smaller reception roam boasts a beautiful view as well which does not hurt at all. The resort is gorgeous all over but they did a great job putting together the reception space.
Their cake was honestly something out of this world. If I get the name of the cake maker I will add it later I believe they are from Parksville though so I will hunt that down. (downside to blogging months late you forget everything).
The perfect little reception, dinner, wine, cake and some wonderful speeches. So much laughter and a few tears made this day unforgettable! I am so glad I was a part of their special day.
Thank you Dana and Ken for having me I truly appreciate it.
It is so lovely when you get along really well with your couples. The whole day flowed to smoothly and we had such a blast. I was so happy to be able to offer my services and help with hair and makeup and all those other little things I could offer to help make this day easy and fun for both of them. This is the best job in the world.
